What the paper examines
This study examines prosodic variation across nine French speaking styles using the C-PhonoGenre corpus. It combines situational descriptions with semi-automatic acoustic analysis and manual annotation to compare patterns across styles.
Reading it in context
The analysis illustrates that prosody changes with communicative situations. The corpus, style definitions and analysis methods matter; a difference in pitch or timing alone does not establish a communication disorder.
A question to read with
How were the speaking styles defined and connected with the acoustic measurements?
